Quick Tips

  1. If you click on a student’s name but do not see much information, it is most likely because the student has not completed the application – green “complete” tag will appear next to the student’s status on the administrative home when the application is complete (the complete flag runs once a day, so this green complete may not show up until the day after the application is complete).
  2. You can review applications at any time, but you should not submit admission recommendations until the admission period
  3. If more than one faculty has reviewer access for your program, please designate ONE person to submit admission recommendations

Basic Troubleshooting

Please refer to these steps for working around common issues that faculty and students experience while using MyEA:
  • Logging in to MyEA - If you are having trouble logging into MyEA, please complete the following steps:
    • Try using another browser
    • Clear the cookies and cache from the browser you are using (found in the privacy or advanced options of your browser)
    • Confirm that your username and password work on other UMD systems such as your email and testudo
    • Email Kyle Twadelle (ktwadell@umd.edu) and copy Education Abroad (educationabroad@umd.edu) with a description of the task you are trying to accomplish, a screenshot of the error screen you receive, and the exact steps you took that resulted in the error message.
  • Cannot Find Student Applications on Reviewer Homepage: If you are unable to see the list of applicants who applied to your program, make sure you are navigating to the Reviewer Homepage where this is located. To navigate to the Reviewer homepage, click on the house icon on the upper left corner of the screen and then select "Reviewer Home"

View applicants and application status

On your Reviewer Home, you will see a header called “My Reviews.” If a student has created an application to your program, you will see their name listed under this header.

Reviewer Home:

The Reviewer Home shows all applicants to your program and makes it easy for you to see only the applications you want to see and need to take action on by using the filter options.

Reviewer Home

A series of drop-down menus and search bars allow the reviewer to easily filter the list of applications.

1) Filter to view only those applications pending your review or only those applications for which a review has been submitted. Selecting "All" will display all applications together (see example above).
2) Click into this search bar and filter based on the app cycle ex. Winterterm 2026.
3) Filter based on the program.

A series of columns organizes information as follows:

4) Name of Applicant: Clicking on an applicant's name allows the reviewer to view the full application including the student's information and all application requirements.
5) Program name
6) Application cycle
7) Application status
8) Review status
9) Recommendation status: This is the recommendation made by the reviewer (i.e. accept, reject, or waitlist). If the reviewer has not yet taken action, "no recommendation" will be displayed.

View Complete Student Applications

In MyEA you will see a list of both complete and incomplete applications for your program. If an application is complete, it means that the student has completed all of the application requirements necessary to make an admission decision. You should submit reviews for applications that are complete only and during the admission period.

Complete applications are easily identified on the Administrative Homepage, which is a different screen from the Reviewer Homepage. To view all complete applications, click on the Home icon located in the upper left corner of the screen in MyEA, then select "Administrative".

On the Administrative Homepage, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "My Reviews" panel. There you will see the same list of applications that are on the Reviewer Homepage. All complete applications will have a "complete" tag next to the student's status. If there is a "complete" tag, this means the student has submitted their application and it is ready for your review during the admission period.

Reviewing Student Applications
You can look through applications at any time, but you should only submit admission recommendations for complete applications during the admission period (Oct 1-7th).

To make an admission decision, click on a student’s name from your reviewer home or administrative home and read through all information on the application. At the bottom of the page you will see a section called “Reviewer Feedback.” Here you should complete the following steps:
  1. Add a comment (comments are visible to EA staff but not to applicants). This is especially important if you do not want to accept an applicant, or if you want to accept a student who does not meet the specified eligibility criteria.
  2. Select accept/reject/waitlist to indicate the action you would like EA to take on the application.
  3. Check the “Mark as completed” box to finalize your review. Education Abroad will then notify the applicant of the admissions decision on the program decision date by changing their status. If you do not check mark as completed, your decision will not be submitted to EA.
  4. Click Submit
Keep in mind that although you should not make admission decisions until after the application deadline, you can read through the applications, write notes, and submit the review WITHOUT checking the “mark as completed” box. You will then need to go back and check the box and click Submit when it is time to submit your admission recommendations (only from Oct 1-7th).

After you submit your review, remember that this does NOT change the student’s status to accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. The official status change will be completed by the EA Program Manager.

Communicate with all students

To send an email to all students:
  1. On the upper navigation menu, click “Applicants” (plural) and then “Search” from the expanded list
  2. Type in a keyword from your program (such as the program country) in the Program Name field, select the appropriate term under Program Term, and click "search" to see results
  3. On the results page, click the drop down under “Options” and select “send email”
  4. You can unselect students you do not want to email
You may want to contact students for the following reasons:
  • To introduce yourself once they have started an application
  • To encourage students who haven’t finished an application to finish (EA staff will contact these students as well)
  • To inquire about a specific part of a student’s application or ask them to elaborate on a certain part
If you need the email address of one specific applicant, remember that when you click the applicant's name from administrative or reviewer home, their email address will be in the top section of the application.

View Overall Progress of Applicants

Although you can see the progress of each applicant from clicking on their name on your Administrative or Reviewer Home, you can see at a glance how many materials all students have completed by completing a progress audit:
  1. On your  Reviewer home screen, you will see a "Progress Audit" dropdown menu
  2. Select Pre-decision from the dropdown (after students are accepted, you may want to view Post-Decision instead)
  3. Check all options EXCEPT for the last two (recommendations and review) and click “Next”
  4. If you wish, you can click the “Export Options” at the bottom of the page and choose Excel to work with the information in an excel format
