Maryland-in-Berlin Housing Overview

As a University of Maryland Student in the Maryland Berlin program, you have two options for accommodation in Berlin. You can live with a German family in a homestay or in a single-occupancy studio apartment. Both housing options are included in the cost of your program fee. FU-Best arranges housing accommodations on your behalf.

Homestay

Living with a German family will offer the most immersive cultural experience during your semester or year in Berlin. A homestay is highly recommended for students looking to increase their German language proficiency. Those who choose the homestay option will be provided with two meals a day, in addition to lodging.  Read more about living in a home stay in Berlin.

Studio Apartment

Students who wish to live on their own will be placed in fully furnished studio apartments in Southwest Berlin. The apartments are located only 20 minutes to the city center via public transportation and approximately 30 minutes from the FU-Best facilities and classrooms. Those students in studio apartments are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals. Students will have full kitchens in order to cook their own meals.
