This overview provides information about the academics of the Maryland-in-Perugia summer program.
Maryland-in-Perugia summer students will enroll in up to 6 credits, depending on their program of study:
* Summer Session One and Two students will enroll in one or two courses per session for a maximum of six (6) credits per session. Students can choose to study in Perugia for one session or both sessions. Students should check the Umbra Institute Academic Calendar to see dates for each session.
** Students on the Intensive Italian track will enroll in either a one-month 6 credit program or a two-month 12 credit program.
The Maryland-in-Perugia summer program offers resident credits.
Students who choose to take courses at the Umbra Institute that are not approved by the University of Maryland may not receive academic credit for them. Students who drop a course after the Umbra Institute’s Add/Drop period will receive a W on their Maryland transcript for that course.
Please note that grades from the term in Perugia are not posted until about 4-6 weeks after the end of the semester in which a student studies abroad.
